Mill Mount
Ireland, County Louth
This Mill Mount in Drogheda was built as both a defensive
tower and a signal. Should the town be invaded the towns people
would seek refuge in the walls around the tower, and heave
round rocks down the hill while those in the tower would shower
arrows upon the invaders, that were busy dodging rolling stones.
They would also light a large fire in the top of the tower
to signal to other towns that they were under attack.
